How to get here
Whether you come by car, train or bike, the Moselle Loop is ideally located and very easy to get to.
By car
- From Paris or Strasbourg, access via the A4 motorway.
- From Brussels, Luxembourg, Dijon or Lyon, access via the A31 motorway.
By train
There are several stations along the Moselle Loop, so you can come and go, break up your itinerary and get a train back in either direction.
If you want to arrive or travel with your bike by train, remember to check the conditions of travel, which vary according to the type of train. Find out more on the SNCF website.
By boat
- Via the Canal de la Marne au Rhin, direction Vitry le François – Strasbourg.
- Via the Canal de l’Est, direction Charleville Mézières – Gorre.

The 85 kilometres of the Moselle Loop are an ideal length of route to start your cycling experience.

What luggage should the family take?
First rule: travel light (fleeces instead of duvets depending on the season, good quality but thin floor mats…) Dad and Mum will carry the luggage: either in waterproof panniers or in a trailer. The trailer allows you to take large volumes (like tents for example).
Which bikes?
Children’s bikes are often too heavy for them. Think of putting thinner tyres on them to lighten the bike and reduce their efforts. Adults can take a VTC with a luggage rack. Repairers are available in Nancy and Toul but remember to check the general condition of the bikes (brakes, derailleurs, etc.)
For a “comfortable” loop as a couple
Sleep in a bed and breakfast or in a “Accueil vélo” hotel, so you can travel very light. Take advantage of the thematic tours which offer other differences in altitude (always very accessible by VTC).
Where to park the car?
At the campsite, at the guest house or at the hotel where you are leaving.
